Screen printing

Gelli printorgel printingis a modernmonotype, whose characteristic feature is the uniqueness of pigment transfer, one-time use, non-repeatable printing plate, unlike, for example, lino, silk, or relief printing.
Gel printing uses a soft, rubber-like plate (so-calledgelli plate) to create and transfer the image onto paper. This technique is very popular due to its simplicity and creative possibilities.

Principle:

  1. Plate preparationgelli plateis an elastic and slightly sticky plate. Paint or pigment is applied to it.
  2. Image creation– patterns can be made on the paint with various tools (e.g., brushes, spatulas, textured paper, stencils).
  3. Paint transfer– the printable material is pressed onto the plate and lightly pressed to transfer the pigment.
  4. The result is a unique artwork– each print is unique and unrepeatable. The same result is usually impossible to replicate because the paint is applied to the plate as a random or manually created image. In gel printing, it is sometimes possible to make a light second print typical of monotype(calledghost print), but the second print from the same plate is no longer the same — it is weaker or a completely different image.), aga teine trükk samalt plaadilt ei ole enam sama — see on nõrgem või hoopis teistsugune kujutis.

Features:

  • Suitablefor quick and creative work, also for beginners.
  • Various paints can be used: acrylic, gouache, ink.
  • Allowslayered and textured images.

It is also possible to make the gel plate yourself at home using gelatin and glycerin. A homemade gel plate is not as durable (sharp objects are especially dangerous), but it works. The paintings below were created using a homemade gel plate.
